The Present
AIA consists of an extensive network of volunteers from the local community, the University and the international student body.
AIA continues to play an important role in providing support and generating a positive rapport with international students who return home and speak favourably of their experience of the University and the Armidale community.
AIA is always looking for new avenues to help UNE's International students and their families. Times change and so do the needs of many people.
Currently we are:
- establishing a "Buddy System" designed to assist in International students meeting Australian students and encouraging interaction;
- endeavouring to provide cohesion between the various country groups and to provide assistance with their ability to host events and activities.
AIA sees its future in parallel with UNE, ready to act as a temporary infrastructure until UNE can build what is needed. We have successfully done this in the past and we will continue to operate on this level.
Because of our role in assisting UNE's International students and the continued strong support we receive from UNE, we are always ready to bridge any gaps that may appear between what is needed and what is.
