Two elements contribute to educational quality in Psychology at UNE. The teaching staff are highly qualified and class sizes are small. Staff are attracted to UNE because of its reputation and the cosmopolitan yet non-urban lifestyle offered by Armidale. Students, additionally, find the environment of the UNE colleges congenial. Classes are small because man UNE students are based outside Armidale, hence teaching is in two separate modes: regular sessions during semester for on-campus students; vacation schools for distant students.

As one of the longest established departments in Australia, the School of Psychology at UNE is able to offer a degree with prestige and quality. Being based outside a capital city means it is also able to offer the degree within an atmosphere in which staff are readily accessible to students who have questions or who desire more information. Our smaller class sizes mean that students are not overwhelmed by the university experience.

The School pf Psychology at UNE is fully accredited by the Australian Psychology Society (APS). This means that degrees from UNE can be used to apply for membership of the society. They are also recognised by Psychologists’ registration boards in all States of Australia.
