Bachelor of Languages

The Bachelor of Languages (four years full-time) is designed for well-motivated students aiming at a sequence in one language or sequences in two Asian and/or European languages. It offers students the opportunity to spend two semesters studying university courses in a country of the target language(s) and to gain full credit for such study. This in-country residence will greatly enhance the candidate’s communicative competence and level of cultural awareness.

What languages are available?
Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Indonesian, Italian and Japanese can be studied in the Bachelor of Languages. Staff involved with the Degree have long experience of teaching a wide range of students, both as externals and in distance mode. The University of New England is the sole or main provider in Australia of tertiary courses through external study through cross institutional arrangements.

The Bachelor of Languages is open to students with prior knowledge of the languages in which they wish to specialise, as well as to those who have completed several years of study for them, for example to HSC or equivalent level.
