Plant Tissue Culture Practice

Acram Taji, William Dodd and Richard Williams
Third Edition, 1997, University of New England Publication Unit.

The purpose of this introductory textbook in plant tissue culture is to provide a practical reference for the production of higher plants via in vitro techniques. The book is aimed at researchers, students, nursery people and other individuals who are interested in plant cell and tissue culture, particularly in clonal propagation.

The appendices provide technical information and solutions to many of the problems one may encounter during the course of tissue culture. Many recipes, arising from our own work with Australian Native Plants, are also included in this book.

We hope that this improved third edition will be of further assistance to researchers and students alike.

Tissue Culture of Australian Plants

The development of plant tissue culture in Australia has accelerated enormously over the past two decades. Today more than 150 scientists are using this technology for development of Australian plants and in advancing our basic understanding of many Australian plant species. This is the first book which has concentrated on the tissue culture advances with respect to Australian native plants. The book is aimed at researchers, students and anyone with an interest in plant tissue culture technology.

Video

Basic Plant Tissue Culture

The purpose of this new video is to provide the theoretical as well as practical basis of plant tissue culture for the production of higher plants via in vitro techniques. The video covers the following important points:
  • Stock plant management
  • Media preparation
  • Aseptic procedures
  • Stages of micropropagation including initiation, multiplication, rooting and acclimatisation (hardening off)
This video is aimed at teachers, researchers, students, nursery people and other individuals who are interested in plant cell, tissue and organ culture, particularly in clonal propagation. The video may also be used in conjunction with the text book 'Plant Tissue Culture Practice' (Taji, Dodd and Williams - Third Edition 1997).

Produced and presented by Acram Taji
