Dr Justin Rose: Dr Rose is an environmental lawyer who specialises in the legal and institutional aspects of collaborative and community-based conservation and natural resource management in the Pacific island region. Justin’s areas of expertise include policy and legislation development in the areas of biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, forestry, coastal management, environmental impact assessment, pollution prevention and waste management. Justin is also experienced in the procedures, conventions and requirements of international environmental treaty implementation.

Professor Jim Shortle: Professor Shortle is a Distinguished Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Economics and the Director of the Environment and Natural Resources Institute at the Pennsylvania State University. His teaching and research interests are primarily in the area of environmental and natural resource economics. Some of his current research interests include the integration of economic and environmental information for environmental decision making; decision making under uncertainty; economic incentives for environmental management; impacts of climate change on natural hazards, agriculture, human health and water resources, and the management of agricultural externalities. Dr Miriam Verbeek: Dr Verbeek is the Director of the strategic consulting group, The Profit Foundation, providing advice to the public and private sectors since 1982. In 1997 she completed a doctorate in organisational ethics and taught that subject in the ethics Masters program of the University of New South Wales from 1998 to 2004. Her special interest is community-based environmental organisations, having advised and chaired several, including managing a number of their large programs. She has held Ministerial appointments to the NSW Biodiversity Advisory Committee, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Sydney South Region Advisory Committee, and the Southern Catchment Management Board. She has worked with the Commonwealth government in the Natural Heritage Trust program since its inception. Miriam has edited and written for various community newspapers and is co-author of several reports and a book on natural resources in Australia.
