Dirk Boomsma Memorial Peace Studies Bursaries

Bursary Background

Kenneth Boomsma is a former external student of the University of New England who now wishes to help and encourage other students who wish to enrol in Peace Studies.

These Bursaries are devoted to the memory of Kenneth’s grandfather Dirk Boomsma (1897-1985) and in gratitude to my father James Dirk Boomsma (1931-2009) whose financial astuteness has made it possible.

These Bursaries are also dedicated to all those committed to the peace process and the belief in the universal eradication of violent armed conflict.

The bursary covers HECS fees for domestic students (approx. $680) or fees for international full fee paying students (approx. $2,000).

Eligibility Criteria

Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree (as first preference) or postgraduate degree at the University of New England
Must be intending to enrol in any Peace Studies unit
Applicants must present a submission addressing motivation to study Peace
