UNE's major of Indigenous Studies offers you a dynamic array of online units of study to choose from! Our major makes use of innovative technology and teaching methodologies so as to enhance and maximise your learning!

As an Indigenous or non-Indigenous student you can learn about Indigenous issues and factors that have shaped and/or are influencing change within Indigenous communities today within Australia, our global region and beyond.

No matter what your background or knowledge is of Indigenous issues, all students are most welcome and are encouraged to enrol!

How to apply

The major of Indigenous Studies is within the School of Humanities. This means that to study Indigenous Studies there are a number of courses in which you can enrol at both an undergraduate and graduate level.

Research Opportunities

Students at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Level are encouraged to do research. We believe that research skills are critical for graduate employability.

Indigenous Studies staff currently have a number of active research projects.  Students interested in pursuing research opportunities can find these topics listed on the Research Opportunities page.  Please contact the relevant supervisor for those interested in HUMS units.  For those interested in undertaking fourth year Honours projects contact the Honours coordinator.  For those interested in undertaking higher degree research projects (MPhil, PhD) please contact the program convenor.
