Chapter 3: Collecting the Data |
Sampling methodsRay Chapter 13 discusses several different types of sampling methods including convenience sampling, stratified sampling, quota, and snowball sampling. The ideal is random sampling but this is usually impractical. The various methods described in Ray are usually applicable to non-experimental survey-based research. Random assignment in experimental designs is sufficient to allow the inference of causation (assuming all other confounding variables have been controlled). |
